TNK Visuals is a videography business specialising in commercial and wedding videography. They invited me to spend a day assisting with the production of a video that was going to be used by property developer Hopkins Homes to showcase the development.

The Process

Firstly, I spoke with a representative, so I could find out what they thought were the most important details for us to capture. This was a great starting base for us as it meant we could start thinking about site-specific shots.

The next step was to check out the properties themselves, as this is where the majority of our footage would be shot. I did a couple of walkthroughs to get a feel for the space, and a third to allow me to take in the details of each room. These walkthroughs also enabled me to think about camera angles, how we could film, and from which point within each space. I reported my thoughts and findings.

All that was left to do was storyboard, and when we were solid on what our vision was, and knew what we were filming and how we were filming it, we started gathering the footage. I shared my ideas for shots and angles, provided notes about the physical space, lighting, best features. It was also important to keep in mind how the video would be edited, to allow for transitions.

And once filming had ended, my part in the process was over. It was left to TNK Visuals to edit the footage to fit the brief they were working toward.

This is the final result.
